It seems everywhere you turn, women of all ages are paging through the book Fifty Shades of Grey. As one of my friends said, "You might as well be reading a 'Playgirl' magazine." I can appreciate everyone's curiosity on such a seductive topic but let's not forget that as women and mothers, we set an example for the younger women of the future.
I have not read Fifty Shades of Grey so I cannot give you my review of the book but I have just finished a book that I believe would be more inspiring.
The book is called, "How Great Women Lead" A Mother-Daughter Adventure into the Lives of Women Shaping the World. This is an easy read of how a mother and daughter embarked on an excursion of interviewing many great women leaders from around the world and how they became so successful. There are so many "nuggets of gold" to be learned from each woman. Below is a list of some of the women that were interviewed:
Dr. Condoleezza Rice - Former U.S. Secretary of State and Professor at Stanford University
Lt. Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF - First Women Thunderbird Pilot
Eileen Fisher - Fashion Designer, CEO Eileen Fisher, Inc.
Cathy Sarubbi - Homemaker, Mother of Five
Sheryl Sandberg - COO, Facebook
Geena Davis - Women's Rights Activist, Movie Star
Her Excellency, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf - President of Liberia, Nobel Laureate
Hilary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Secretary of State
These women, and many more in the book, believed in themselves; followed their passions, skills and faith and encourage us to be better human beings.
